Types of Hemorrhoids -

A hemorrhoid is an ailment that can be classified into several categories. The two major types of hemorrhoids are the ones that start within the anal region and those that occur outside the rectum.

The first type is known as an internal hemorrhoid. This type of ailment is normally difficult to diagnose because it rarely causes pain and discomfort. However, internal hemorrhoids are easier to treat because they are located in an area where there are no pain fibers. Examples of possible internal hemorrhoid cures include natural remedies and anti-inflammatory drugs that are both taken orally. The primary symptom of this form of hemorrhoid is the appearance of bright red blood on the stool, on the toilet bowl, or on the paper towel used during bowel movements.

The second type is called an external hemorrhoid. This form of hemorrhoid is the more widely recognized type among the two. In addition, it can be identified easily because its major symptom is a noticeable lump of flesh that protrudes out of the rectum. External hemorrhoids are usually hard to treat because they occur in an area where pain fibers are present. Their common treatments consist of creams and gels which are applied directly on the affected area.

Moving on, there are other forms of hemorrhoids aside from these two types. Mixed hemorrhoids, for instance, are a combination of the two major forms of this ailment. Another type is the thrombosed hemorrhoid, which happens when a blood clot develops inside the swollen vein. These clots do not pose any specific danger but can cause severe pain. Moreover, removing the clot usually treats the hemorrhoid. The next type is the prolapsed hemorrhoid. This type starts internally and eventually sticks out of the rectum, becoming an external hemorrhoid.
